Anna Skurczynska is a director of Open Plan Law. She is a recognised expert in photographic copyright, and legal protection of digital creativity, with her career shaped by a top-flight City of London practice, and a management role in an in-house legal team of a leading media company. Open Plan Law builds on that experience advising on IP rights in the broad range of sectors, including the Arts and Heritage sector, publishing, technology, media, fabric and clothing designers, food manufacturers and restaurants, scientific enterprises, authors and financial services providers. Ms Skurczynska’s practice focuses on copyright, image rights, data protection and e-commerce. In 2018, she was nominated for the Law Society’s Excellence Award in the private practice category. Her particular interest lies in transactional IP and building consensus between parties around exploitation of IP rights and fair remuneration. She advised on the creation of a collecting society for the photographic rights in the UK and negotiated with the monopoly-holding society on the split of represented rights and royalties. In other sectors, she has advised on a wide range of licensing agreements for copyright, trade marks and data for traditional media and new technologies. Ms Skurczynska has an extensive experience in licensing image and publicity rights of well-known people, and managing personality brands.
