Andrew T. Thomas is a highly regarded litigator and immigration attorney licensed in both Texas and Florida. He founded ATTLAW, a law firm focusing on US Immigration Law, after a distinguished career in complex commercial litigation. While practicing litigation, Mr. Thomas gained valuable experience as an attorney in "BigLaw" working under some of the most distinguished attorneys in Florida. His work in commercial litigation helped hone his skills in trial preparation and representation in cases frequently involving multimillion-dollar outcomes, expert witness and lay witness deposition, mediation, and discovery. He considers these lessons invaluable. In fact, one of the first cases he worked on out of law school reached the US Supreme Court. Building from these lessons, he returned to his home state of Texas determined to put his skills to work for individuals rather than the corporate clients he previously represented.
Recognizing the need for skilled attorneys, Mr. Thomas decided to focus his new firm on immigration. In utilizing the skills and dedication that he used in trial work, he has proven to be highly successful in immigration and representation of individuals before the Department of Justice.
Shortly after opening his firm, Mr. Thomas came to the public light after his pro bono representation of the family of a murdered child. The family, who's 5-year-old child was murdered by a family relative, came to ATTLAW after being unsuccessfully represented by another attorney. After hearing their story, Mr. Thomas waived all attorneys' fees and committed to seeking justice for the family. Despite the obstacles, he helped the family come "out of the shadows" and achieve legal status in the United States because of their participation in the prosecution of the murderer. This story, including the work of Andrew Thomas, was featured on several television news networks as a leading story.
Another notable pro bono matter involves Mr. Thomas representing a client seeking justice for an incident that happened to her US citizen child more than 20 years previously. Her child was the victim of "shaken baby syndrome" and the perpetrator received a lengthy prison sentence for the permanent damage he caused to the child. However, the mother, despite her help in the prosecution of the offender and as the primary caretaker of the child, did not have status in the United States. She constantly worried about possible deportation and how her child would manage without her due to her permanent disability. Mr. Thomas helped rectify this situation so the mother could breathe easy and focus on caring for her child. This case also received heavy media attention. It is stories like these that fuel the work of Mr. Thomas and his team at ATTLAW.
Throughout his career, Mr. Thomas has demonstrated a fearlessness for taking on any challenge. He prides himself on hard work and never backing down from any difficulty. This confidence and attitude are exuded by his team of attorneys and staff and the proof is in their results. He and his team have now achieved victories for thousands of clients across the United States.
Mr. Thomas' firm, ATTLAW, has now grown to include several offices in the state of Texas including the flagship offices in downtown Dallas and Houston. They have further expanded into a virtual practice helping clients all over the United States. He is regarded as one of the leading attorneys in the field of immigration and has made frequent media appearances on
