Chantal Da Silva is the Vice President, Legal Affairs and a member of the executive management team at Teranga Gold Corporation. She joined the company in 2012. Ms. Da Silva has over 15 years’ legal experience as a solicitor at top-tier international law firms and as corporate in-house counsel for a multinational professional services firm, providing advice to private and public companies in Canada, Europe and Africa.
Ms. Da Silva established and manages Teranga’s regional office and staff in Paris, France. With Teranga’s subsidiaries spread out across the globe, Ms. Da Silva is responsible for providing strategic counsel and legal advice to the executive and senior leadership teams across the Teranga group on international matters relating to corporate, securities and commercial law, acquisitions, financings, reorganizations, corporate governance, regulatory compliance, government relations, litigation, employment and risk management. Ms. Da Silva is a director of several Teranga affiliates, chairs all director and shareholder meetings of Teranga’s West African subsidiaries and manages the corporate secretarial function at the subsidiary level.
Ms. Da Silva holds a Juris Doctor (J.D.) in Common Law and a Licentiate in Civil Law (LL.L.) from the University of Ottawa, a Masters in International Business Law (LL.M.) from Sorbonne University (Paris) and a Bachelor of Political Science & History (B.A.) from McGill University. She is also a member of the Global Counsel Leaders Circle, the Association of Corporate Counsel Europe, Women in Capital Markets, Canadian Corporate Counsel Association, Women in Mining, the Toronto Board of Trade, the Paris Chamber of Commerce, and past member of the Minority Corporate Counsel Association (USA) and the Black Business Professionals Association of Canada.
