After graduating Cum Laude from California State University, Northridge with a degree in Business Management - Organizational Systems Management in 1988, Cheryl L. Walsh graduated from Loyola Law School in 1991. She opened the first Elder Law division at Stein, Hanger, Levine and Young in 1993. Later, she founded the Law Offices of Cheryl L. Walsh in 1995 in Simi Valley, California, which she relocated to San Juan Capistrano, California in 1997. Her Elder Law practice focuses on estate and long-term care planning including government benefit planning, probate and trust administration, as well as extensive litigation including conservatorships, guardianships, trust and elder abuse litigation. Ms. Walsh has successfully taken numerous cases to trial as well as the Court of Appeals.
Ms. Walsh served on the Board of Directors of the Ventura County Chapter of the Alzheimer's Association, Speaker's Bureau of the Los Angeles County Chapter of the Alzheimer's Association and has been a member of the National Academy of Elder Law Attorneys since 1994. Ms. Walsh served as a Probate Volunteer Panel Attorney for the Los Angeles Superior Courts and currently serves on the Panel for Court-Appointed Attorneys and Guardians Ad Litem in the Orange County Superior Court. She has volunteered for the Conservatorship and Guardianship Clinics at the Orange County Superior Court and her office provides free legal advice at the San Juan Senior Center. Ms. Walsh has served as a presenter for the National Business Institute and a keynote speaker at a variety of hospitals, senior centers, caregiver conferences and planned giving seminars throughout Southern California. She has contributed articles in the California Advocates for Nursing Home Reform Advocate publication.
Ms. Walsh served as a member of the Board of Directors and Chairperson for the Elder Law Section and Conservatorship, Guardianship and Protective Proceedings Sections of the Orange County Bar Association.
Ms. Walsh has been married to her husband, Brian for 34 years and has 3 children: Shane, McKenzie and Kerrigan. She enjoys traveling, working out, walking their Gerbarian Shepsky, Kaya and German Shepard, Jett, and spending time with family and friends.
