Commonhold and Leasehold Experts Limited - Property Law
For many years, Mari has worked as a landlord and tenant lawyer, with experience in residential and commercial conveyancing, complex enfranchisement transactions, commonhold and in landlord and tenant litigation. In addition, she also works as an editor with the publishers, Butterworths Law Books. Her editing work includes updating their recent LexisNexis Commonhold, Enfranchisement, Contentious Enfranchisement editions and their Butterworths Property Law Service commercial quarterlies.
Separately, in 2018, Mari worked for the Law Commission as a leasehold reform lawyer for a year, before transferring to the Department of Levelling Up, Housing, Communities and Local Government, where she continues to advise on all aspects of the ongoing commonhold and leasehold reform.
Mari frequently speaks at conferences, and works with firms of lawyers, managing agents and valuers to provide inhouse training on a range of topics, including commonhold. Recently, the firm has enjoyed penning the “commonhold versus leasehold” series, to help explain what commonhold is by reference to leasehold.
For many years Mari has provided a pro bono service for leaseholders in need of advice, working closely with various leasehold charities over the years and continues to provide this service where she can.
