Fred E. Karlinsky is Chair of Greenberg Traurig's Global Insurance Regulatory and Transactions Practice Group. Fred has over 30 years of experience representing the interests of insurers, reinsurers and a wide variety of other insurance-related entities on their regulatory, transactional, corporate and governmental affairs matters. Fred is a recognized authority on national insurance regulatory and compliance issues and serves on the boards of the most influential insurance trade organizations. Having led many industry-driven legislative and regulatory initiatives, Fred is a thought leader among his peers, a sought-after speaker and frequent moderator on insurance panels with governmental officials and insurance commissioners.

Fred is recognized as the only Band 1 Florida insurance regulatory lawyer by Chambers & Partners, where he has been ranked for 14 years. He is listed in The Best Lawyers in America, Super Lawyers, Florida Trend's "Florida 500" and Florida Trend's "Legal Elite." In 2024, at the Daily Business Review's Florida Legal Awards, Fred was honored among the "Distinguished Leaders." Fred was named in Influence Magazine as "Insurance Lobbyist of the Year" in 2023 and in "Florida's 100 Most Influential People in State Politics," in 2018, 2020 and 2022.
Since 2014, Fred has been appointed three times by two Florida Governors, Rick Scott and Ron DeSantis, to serve on the Florida Supreme Court Judicial Nominating Commission, where five of the seven current sitting Justices of the Florida Supreme Court were appointed during Fred's tenure on the JNC. Fred served as Vice Chair from 2018 to 2022 and as Chair since 2022. Fred serves as President of the Board of Trustees of the Florida Supreme Court Historical Society; Vice Chair of the Board of Directors of the World Trade Center Miami; and Member of the Board of Directors of Florida TaxWatch. He serves as General Counsel and on the Executive Committee of Leadership Florida and is Vice President of the Board of Directors of the Holocaust Documentation and Education Center.
