John is a Chartered Civil Engineer, a Chartered Structural Engineer, a Chartered Surveyor, and a Certified NEC Professional with over two decades of experience in project management, design & construction management, contract administration, claims, and dispute avoidance & resolution of various building and civil engineering projects in the UK, Hong Kong, PRC and Asia. He holds Fellowships with the Institution of Civil Engineers (FICE), the Institution of Engineers Australia (FIEAust) and the Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors (FRICS). John’s project experience includes major hospital developments, commercial development, industrial and institutional buildings, highway interchanges, bridges, deep excavation, airports and railway projects, based on numerous standard and be-spoke Conditions of Contract, including NEC/ECC Suites of Contracts, HK Government’s General Conditions of Contracts (GCC), HK’s Private Standard Forms of Building Contract, ICE Suite of Contracts, JCT Suite of Contracts and FIDIC Suite of contracts. John also holds Fellowships with the Chartered Institution of Arbitrators (FCIArb), the Hong Kong Institute of Arbitrators (FHKIArb), and the Asian Institute of Alternative Dispute Resolution (FAiADR). He holds two masters’ degrees in law, both with distinctions. He is active in dispute resolution matters, and is conversant with arbitration and other ADR methods, coupled with his solid knowledge in construction law, and in-depth engineering practitioner experience. He is trilingual in English, Mandarin and Cantonese. He is a listed arbitrator, an adjudicator and a mediator on the panels of various leading alternative dispute resolution bodies, including Hong Kong International Arbitration Centre (HKIAC), the Asian International Arbitration Centre (AIAC), the Asian Institute of Alternative Dispute Resolution (AiADR), Hong Kong Institute of Engineers’ (HKIE), the Thailand Arbitration Centre (THAC), UK Adjudicators (UKA) and HK Adjudicators (HKA); and the Chartered Institution of Arbitrators (CIArb)- Business Arbitration Scheme. He maintains his continuous service to various professional institutions, and is a panelist and speaker in various industry events.
